Description:
The building is the first step and the central pole of a broader intervention aimed at creating a technologic center for research and for the University in Lodi municipality.
The development of the complex follows two parallel bodies disposed in line, transversely connected by a glass gallery conceived so to protect the main internal deployment paths and to set up a relational space for researchers. The gallery is directly accessible from a wide square with vegetation: it is the characterizing feature of the building, with open space between the two bodies it defines the axis of the technology center implant that will be built near by.
Both of the bodies of the building are arranged on three levels and are designed to contain laboratories divided in two parallel corridors. Between the corridors have been located special offices and other laboratories on the external sides.
Beyond the headquarters of the Fondazione Polo Tecnologico Padano, some of the most important italian centers of research are situated in this building: the Spallanzani Institute, the Cersa, the CNR and an agency for companies, ties with the local business.
The structures are concrete made with rear-ventilated facades with perimeter masonry and cladding of colored fiber-cement and metal sheets. The gallery is entirely glazed metal framed.
The use of different materials for facades (fiber-cement / metal sheets) and of different colors for doors and windows is an element of diversification and personalization of spaces in a building with technological features. The seriality is gave both by the organization of space that for its technological systems.
