Description:
The exhibition is located in the spaces of "Galata Museo del Mare" of the City of Genoa. The exhibition design enables the discovery of the sea through 100 pictures taken from '"Encyclopedia of the Sea", published for the occasion by Codice Edizioni, and illustrated with over 200 drawings by Richard Ellis, an oceanographer of the Museum of Natural History in New York. The design concept is inspired by the marine, theme of the exhibits, and by the characteristics of the available space: a large container that seems to be like a swimming pool or a stretch of open sea. The container space is  characterized by the projection  of moving images on the walls and on the ceiling to bring the reflections of light under water at a depth of about 3 or 4 meters: the pursued feeling is similar to the one of scuba diving underlined by a background-noise given by a sound recorded with the lapping of the moving water. The works and drawings are freely exhibited in the environment over  metal stands (tripods for musical scores) placed according to a regular grid. The visitor is free to explore the path because there are no subdivisions of space and no impediment to the orientation.
