Description:
The exhibition, contained in an unit of the historical structure of the Magazzini del Cotone  in the Porto Antico of Genoa and divided into four sections, wants to emphasize the importance of technology showing how man uses highly sophisticated instruments both to explore the boundaries of the solar system and to manage daily life. Through a series of models and multimedia installations, the visitor can make an ideal trip from the city to the space, starting with the technology to live, travel and communicate safely to get to those used in the field of environmental protection and clean energy up to the space exploration.
Space exploration is achieved through models and multimedia installations that illustrate the most famous missions and the related probes (Smart 1, Cassini, Venus Express).
The idea of the project is to ensure to the visitor the feeling of being dropped on the planet or on a celestial body and from this to be able to see the exhibits exposed in suspension. For this purpose we darkened the room and realized some thematic bands cross-cutting the available space, at the end of the bands are placed some backgrounds reproducing static images of celestial bodies or with the projection of moving images.
Each band has been placed with a flooring similar to that of the different celestial bodies:
- The Earth: synthetic grass
- Mars: clay flooring
- Ice Comet: grains of salt flooring
- Another celestial body: black sand flooring
Visitors are allowed to walk on these different soils, even if the main path is made by identified in almond metal sheet.
